Sean Kingston remains hospitalized in critical condition and hooked up to a ventilator with a tube inserted in his throat after a jet-ski accident in Miami, but his rep tells MTV News, “He is aware of what is going on around him,” adding that the singer “is sedated but fully conscious.”

Jackson Memorial, the hospital where Kingston is being treated, also issued this statement to MTV: ” Sean Kingston is currently in critical but stable condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Sean’s family asks for privacy at this time but is thankful to his friends, family and fans for their outpouring of prayers and well wishes.”

On Sunday, Kingston and a female passenger crashed his Sea Doo jet-ski into the Palm Island Bridge at approximately 6 p.m. ET. After being rescued by an off-duty Coast Guard employee, the pop star was taken to the trauma center at Jackson Memorial, but has since been moved to the intensive care unit. TMZ spoke to Kingston’s rescuer, who said that Sean was “puking up blood out of his mouth.” Another witness told the site he noticed a gash under Kingston’s chin after the crash.

Cassandra Sanchez, Sean’s friend and passenger on the jet-ski at the time of the accident, has since been discharged from the hospital, Kingston’s rep confirmed to us. Sanchez also spoke to the gossip site, telling them Kingston tried to turn away from the bridge but was going “really fast” and couldn’t avoid the crash. Sanchez also said that as Kingston was maneuvering toward the bridge, she urged him to stop and screamed out, “We can’t fit under there! Are we going to try and go under there? Sean, stop!”

(CNN) — President Barack Obama renewed his push for comprehensive immigration reform Tuesday, citing America’s legacy as a nation of immigrants and saying that finding a solution for millions of undocumented workers is critical to the country’s common future.

“We define ourselves as a nation of immigrants — a nation that welcomes those willing to embrace America’s precepts,” Obama said during a visit to El Paso, Texas.

“It doesn’t matter where you come from. What matters is that you believe in the ideals on which we were founded, that you believe all of us are equal,” he said. “In embracing America, you can become American. That is what makes this country great.”

The president’s speech was part of his administration’s attempt to regain the initiative on a hot-button issue that has largely been ceded to state government leaders in recent months. It took place against a backdrop of intense political maneuvering on the part of both Democrats and Republicans seeking to use the issue to their own advantage in the 2012 election campaign.

Among other things, Obama ripped GOP leaders for setting impossible standards for border enforcement before being willing to cut a deal with their Democratic counterparts.

“All the stuff they asked for, we’ve done,” he said, citing a range of steps taken to improve security along the Mexican border. “I suspect there will be those who will try to move the goalposts one more time. … Maybe they’ll say we need a moat. Or alligators in the moat.”

“They’ll never be satisfied,” he said. But “that’s politics.”

“The most significant step we can take now to secure the borders is to fix the system as a whole so that fewer people have incentive to enter illegally in search of work in the first place,” Obama said. “This would allow agents to focus on the worst threats on both of our borders — from drug traffickers to those who would come here to commit acts of violence or terror.”

The president stressed that, as part of comprehensive reform, Washington has to “secure the borders and enforce the law.” Business owners, he said, need to be punished for exploiting undocumented workers.

At the same time, people who have entered the country illegally have to admit they broke the law, pay taxes and a fine, learn English and be willing to undergo background checks before starting the legalization process, he added.

Key proponents of tighter immigration standards were disappointed with Obama’s proposal.

“Basically the president laid out a plan for open immigration,” said Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform.

The president is offering to “give the people who are here a slap on the wrist and let them all stay,” Mehlman said. He’s promoting “immigration on demand. … Nobody will break any immigration laws because there won’t be any immigration laws.”

Mehlman called the president’s remarks “a speech given by candidate Obama, not necessarily President Obama.”

Some reform advocates were also unimpressed with the president’s remarks.

“We have heard a lot of these words before,” said Ivan Ceja, a student at the University of Fullerton in California. “He has the power to stop deportations. He needs to take action.”

Obama’s speech came in the wake of a series of recent meetings with key Latino officials and reform advocates. Despite an aggressive push for substantive policy changes from his political base, the president has repeatedly said he won’t act on his own to implement provisions of a reform bill that failed to win congressional approval last year.

Some reform advocates “wish that I could just bypass Congress and change the law myself. But that’s not how a democracy works,” the president said.

The president has, however, changed Washington’s enforcement priorities.

A recent increase in deportations “has been a source of controversy,” he acknowledged. “But I want to emphasize: We are not doing this haphazardly. We are focusing our limited resources on violent offenders and people convicted of crimes — not families, not folks who are just looking to scrape together an income.”

A number of states — most notably Arizona — are moving in the opposite direction, pushing legislation making it easier to deport people solely for being in the country illegally.

Key parts of a new Arizona law requiring police officers to check a person’s immigration status while enforcing other statutes were recently blocked by the federal courts. The Justice Department sued the state, arguing that only the federal government has the authority to dictate immigration policy.

Federal district and appellate judges have blocked that provision of the law, and Arizona’s governor asked the U.S. Supreme Court to take the case Monday.

For their part, national Republican leaders have indicated an unwillingness to consider broader changes — including a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants — until the Mexican border is brought under tighter control.

Progressive reform advocates, meanwhile, have been frustrated by Congress’s inability to pass the DREAM Act, which would offer legal standing to immigrants who entered the United States illegally as children under the age of 16 and have lived in the country for at least five years.

The bill would require, among other things, a high school or General Education Development diploma, two years of college or military service, and criminal background checks.

Advocates say the bill would give legal standing to young people brought to the United States by their parents who have bettered themselves and served their new country.

One Latino advocacy group — Presente.org — released a statement before Obama’s speech criticizing the president for failing to issue an executive order stopping the deportation of young undocumented immigrants until legislation such as the DREAM Act is passed.

“All we have heard from President Obama are empty speeches,” the statement said.

Republican opponents equate the measure to amnesty, and have said it would signal to the world that the United States is not serious about enforcing its laws or its borders. They have also called the bill unfair to immigrants who, in many cases, waited years to come to the country legally.

“The president will have to present a plan that takes amnesty off the table and focuses, instead, on making a real commitment to border and interior security,” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, said Tuesday morning.

“If the president does these two things, he will find strong bipartisan support. If he doesn’t, he won’t.”

The DREAM Act was defeated by a Republican filibuster in the Senate last December after winning passage in the House of Representatives. Most analysts believe it has little chance of clearing the GOP-controlled House now.

Obama said Tuesday he will keep pushing for passage of the measure. “It was a tremendous disappointment to get so close and see politics get in the way,” he said.

“The idea that we would punish (children of illegal immigrants) is cruel and makes no sense,” he added. “We are a better nation that that.”

Regardless of the fate of the DREAM Act, the immigration issue remains politically potent. Obama won several Western states in 2008 — including Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada — partly on the rising power of the Latino vote. Democrats believe Hispanic voters might put traditionally Republican Arizona in play next year.

In the long run, Democrats are also hoping to use their advantage among Hispanics to make inroads in core GOP states such as Texas.

Obama won more than two-thirds of the nationwide Hispanic vote in 2008. His approval rating among Hispanics hovered around 68% during the first three months of this year, according to the most recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation polls.

For their part, Republicans have depended on the immigration issue in the past to fire up conservative voters. Some analysts also believe that if Democrats push too hard, too fast on immigration, particularly in tough economic times, it could push swing voters toward the GOP.

Mariah Carey’s twins have yet to make their debut, but we’ve become quite acquainted with the belly they’re being carried in.

The superstar singer hasn’t been shy about showing off her baby bump, which is sometimes even painted for special occasions, like Easter.

On Monday, Carey tweeted a photo of her pregnant belly made up to look like what appears to be an Easter egg. The month prior, it was a butterfly that adorned her buns in the oven.

The 42-year-old also joined the bare baby bump crew – which includes the likes of Demi Moore, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera – with a revealing cover on Life & Style and another on the U.K. edition of OK!, with an assist from hubby Nick Cannon.

The actor and radio show host admitted that he’s since thought twice about some of the couple’s skin-baring photos.

“My children are going to have to see these pictures,” he noted on his radio show. “It’s a little weird…It’s a little nasty. I mean, have you ever seen your parents naked?”

[dcs_p]It used to be called “living in sin” when couples were sharing spaces. But now, “shacking up” is the closest some of us will ever get to tie the knot.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]So are unmarried couples sharing in each others prized possessions and splitting everything 50/50? Well, at closer look we can say that handling your own money is hard enough on your own, so understandably the thought of merging your finances with your sweetheart could be a deal breaker in your relationship.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]But, eventually, the “what’s yours is mine-AND- what’s mine is yours” convo will have to be explored in any serious relationship, even if it doesn’t involve marriage. So, no time like the present for you and your “boo” to get a heads up on how to take care of your individual money baggage first so that it doesn’t become a burden in the relationship.[/dcs_p]

The Do’s:

[dcs_p]Discuss Importance of Money
Money has a different purpose for each person. Couples should discuss the importance of money and how it might affect their relationship. Are you both spenders or frugal? Is one a spender and the other frugal? How important is it to you to have money, will you work 15 hours per day or is spending time with family more important than financial security? If you are lucky you both may have the same view on things, but chances are you won’t. You will have to compromise; relationships are all about compromising with each other this also applies to your finances. Find a middle ground where you both feel comfortable. This will not happen in one session, it will take time – months and even years to find common grounds.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Discuss Long-Term Goals
Now that you know what role money plays in your relationship, start talking about what your long term financial goals are. Do you want to own a house? How do you feel about leasing or financing items? How do you feel about debt? Some people do not mind debt while other’s hate debt. Again you will have to compromise on things to make sure you both feel comfortable with your financial decisions. A good exercise would be to list your ten or twenty year financial goals individually and see how they compare and go from there.[/dcs_p]

The Do Not’s:

[dcs_p]Keep Finances Separate
If you are living together and are not legally married yet, I highly suggest that you keep your finances separate. Yes I know you are planning on getting married and are sharing your finances already, I truly hope things will work out but there is a chance that it might not. The only thing uglier than a break up is a break up with intertwined finances. Until you are married you should keep all your finances separate, keep individual bank accounts – including Savings accounts, Investment accounts etc. JUST IN CASE of a break up this will save you both a lot of unneeded headache. Besides break-ups there are other reasons why things might not work out; such as death.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Do not Share Assets or Liabilities and make such purchases consider having a lawyer draw up a contract detailing what will happen in case of separation. I know discussing separation is not the sexiest conversation
to have, but unfortunately break ups are more common than people are willing to accept. Same goes for liabilities, do not co-sign on loans or credit cards. If you do decide to “help out” and co-sign on a loan, make sure there are proper documents that outlines who is responsible for the loan and the terms of repayment in case of a break up. Everything might be going great now, but imagine you signed a $20,000 loan and a year later you break up….not a pretty picture.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]The number one reason for break ups in recent years has been financial issues. It can be a difficult issue to start discussing but ultimately it can save your relationship if you both have an understanding of your partner’s financial goals.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]1. Supine Pull-Ups (works major muscles in back, shoulders, and biceps) Use two chairs and a pole – a heavy broom handle works well. Just a warning, make sure the chairs are stable and that the broom handle is strong enough to take your weight.

[dcs_hightlight bg="#888888" p="6" rounded="12"] You could be SEVERELY injured if the pole were to break or the chairs to slip.[/dcs_hightlight]

Lie on your back underneath a low bar. Grab the bar with a wide overhand grip. Pull up. Lower and repeat for 6-8 reps.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]2.Push-Ups (chest, triceps, shoulders) The key when targeting the chest with Push-Ups is the direction in which your elbows travel. As with bench presses, the elbows must move AWAY FROM THE BODY to target your chest, and be kept CLOSE TO THE BODY to target the triceps. Place each hand just outside your shoulders, slightly behind the line of your shoulders. Hands pointing straight ahead, upper body rigid as a board. 6-15 reps.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]3. Triceps Dips with Chairs With your hands behind your back, support yourself on your palms at the edge of a chair. Your hands should be touching; your elbows should angle outward. Dipping in this position relieves a lot of stress on the elbow and shoulder joints. Lower yourself, keeping your back close to the chair. Bend your elbows back and slightly to the sides. Keep your body angled slightly forward throughout the motion. Press yourself up until your arms are straight. 6-15 reps.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Dwayne McDuffie died on February 21, 2011 at the age of 49. Most of you may not have heard of him but he was an icon to many African-American comic readers and aspiring writers and artists, old and young. He was the brainchild of such comic books as Static and Icon and the driving force behind the Ben 10: Alien Force and Justice League/Justice League Unlimited animated series. It may be sad irony that Mr. McDuffie died during Black History Month, one day after his birthday, but he was a true trailblazer in the comic book publishing and more mature animated series worlds. A Detroit, Michigan native, this wielder of dual degrees in Physics and English began his career as a comedic radio show co-host, writer for comedians and late night TV comedies and eventually became an assistant editor/writer at Marvel Comics.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]It was during his time at Marvel that McDuffie saw an inequality in the way that the company portrayed and treated its fictional minority characters. In 1993, together with Derek Dingle, Michael Davis and Denys Cowan, that Milestone Media was born. With a focus on multicultural heroes and villains that crossed into that undiscovered country, one in which no other comic company had dared to venture, it was a stark contrast to the status quo. Other than DC’s John Stewart Green Lantern or Marvel’s Blade, there were not many, if any, mainstream comics which focused on a minority character. In fact, Milestone focused on several. From Static to Icon to Hardware toThe Shadow Cabinet to Xombi and Kobalt, McDuffie and Milestone’s universe was far more diverse than just about any other comic company’s in regards to the race of their characters. In this, minorities of any race could find a comic hero to identify with. McDuffie had said in the book DC COMICS: SIXTY YEARS OF THE WORLD’S FAVORITE COMIC BOOK HEROES,[/dcs_p]

If you do a black character or a female character or an Asian character then they aren’t just that character. They represent that race or that sex, and they can’t be interesting because everything they do has to represent an entire block of people. You know, Superman isn’t all white people and neither is Lex Luthor. We knew we had to present a range of characters within each ethnic group, which means that we couldn’t do just one book. We had to do a series of books and we had to present a view of the world that’s wider than the world we’ve seen before.

[dcs_p]But all was not as rosy as it could have been.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]The comic industry was at an all time high, sales-wise, when Milestone first was established in 1993, but it had also reached its peak. After the first year of the initial release of their first three ongoing books (Icon, Static and Hardware), the industry had started to see the beginning of a downturn in comics purchasing. Actually, the true culprit was the literal crowding of new comic companies with their own books and universes, making it ever harder for Milestone to truly shine. Not helping matters was the lack of coverage of the Milestone books within popular comic magazine WIZARD, nor especially the lack of placement inside many retail shops because of a false perception of them not being of interest to non-African-Americans and that they were “comics for blacks”. In 1997, Milestone shut down its comic’s division and focused on licensing their various brands.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]That was not the end of Milestone, though. Through a merging with DC Comics, the Milestone Universe of comic characters lived on, including in the guise of Static Shock, adapted from the Static comic book featuring many elements and characters of the Dakota-verse which all Milestone characters were based in the fictional city of Dakota. Eventually, Milestone Media and DC had reached an agreement that allowed DC to absorb and introduce the Dakota-verse characters into the DC continuity. McDuffie went on to become a major force inside DC Comics, as a writer, editor and story creator for such books as Justice League of America, Batman and Superman. While at DC, which is owned by Warner Brothers, he was instrumental in directing the path of the aforementioned Justice League and Ben 10 animated series and the animated movies Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths and All-Star Superman, his final animated work.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]The world has lost an icon who has been a driving force for change within the comics industry, forcing them to look within and show just how diverse and uplifting the industry could truly be. He has been instrumental in inspiring and hiring a new generation of African-American writers and artists and enlighten the minds of many African-American and other minority readers of his comics. Dwayne, the world is a quieter, less moral place without you. Rest in peace, brother.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Mr. McDuffie is survived by his mother and wife. He was 49.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]With exercise being good for both your mind and body, there’s no excuse not to not do it right? Oh there is one small detail, TIME! Whether in the office, factory or putting that work in elsewhere, LEARN how to get the most out of T.E.N. minutes, lose weight and get fit.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]The trick is to use what you can, where you are. Walking more often, taking the stairs, standing up every now and then to move around, etc. One way to get your workout time in is to break up workouts into short segments throughout the day. 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there…it all adds up to T.E.N. Toning, Energizing & Nourishing your body. Make sure you warm up with some light stretches first before and after exercising. Here’s a T.E.N. minute cardio workout plan to fit into your daily routine (no equipment required):[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Jumping Jacks – Make sure you keep a steady pace but push yourself to go faster when you can.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Jogging in place - Lift your knees and pump your arms to get your heart rate up.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Plyometric Lunges – Begin in a basic lunge position. In an explosive movement, jump, switch legs in the air and land with bent knees into a lunge position.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Ski hops – With feet together, jump from side to side, landing with knees bent. The wider you jump and the lower you squat into the jump, the harder you’ll work.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Skipping – Trust me, you might feel silly, but it’s much harder than you think.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Squat Hops – Stand with feet wide. Lower into a squat and hop forward 4 times, keeping feet wide, legs bent into a squat. Walk back and repeat.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Dancing around the house and singing into a fake microphone.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]While “I have no time” is often the excuse behind not working out, it’s not always the whole reason. Many people just find exercising to be a chore. So the first step in becoming more active is to re-imagine it. Instead of thinking, “I have to work out” think “I get to work out.” Make exercise your “me” time. When you work out you get to have T.E.N. (Toning, Energize and Nourish your body) minutes to yourself. That’s time to not think about deadlines, or conference calls, or email, but rather, about how you’re feeling and how to feel even better. Take T.E.N -Toning, Energize & Nourish your body wherever you are![/dcs_p]

Forbes Top 5 Earners in Hip Hop

[dcs_p]Who would have guessed that main stream America, meaning the rich, would ever give a damn about who was makin’ the most cheddar in Hip Hop? Forbes magazine has
STAMPED 5 OF THE HIP HOP INDUSTRIES HOTTEST artist as the biggest money makers of 2010.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Keep in mind this list is based on each artist’s net worth using some outrageous “rocket science math” that most of us could never even attempt to digest. Net worth, value of
current holdings, past earnings, financial documents and consultations with analysts, blah, blah, blah the list seems to never end in determining how this ranking process
was done. However, Forbes’ higher ups claim that they used the same formula and methodology that is used for their top billionaires list. Who really knows, so we mos
definitely need to be skeptical.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]So lets start with the under dog. Weighing in at #5 is king of Cash Money, BABY, mentor to hip hop’s famed Lil Wayne. Baby aka Birdman gets his piece of the pie before
his mentees Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj get their dividends, but he’s still not bringing in over $100 million. This ties the CEO of Young Money Records with 50 Cent
for the #4 ranking in Forbes Top 5 spot. You would think with all that Vitamin Water paper “still” rolling in, 50 would be well above the #4 position on this most respected list
of hip hop heavy weights. With over a decade in the game, platinum albums, movie roles Mr. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson ranked one below his brother Dr. Dre at $125 million. Dre
can attribute most of his wealth to 50, and of course, Eminem.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]Now, if Birdman is getting baby money, then Jigga is getting that grown man Paper charting the list at #2 with $450 million. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter is closer than he’s ever
been to that billion after releasing his book, continuing his fashion, music and restaurant ventures. Now lets examine this list again, who’s missing? YOUR BOY DIDDY,
OF COURSE!!! He told us he wouldn’t stop and he hasn’t since the early 90’s. At $475 million, Diddy’s Sean John clothing line, Bad Boy Worldwide label, television
productions and now his partnership in the vodka, Ciroc, has put him at the top spot for hip hop’s biggest earners. Say what you want about Diddy’s personal life, the many
busted relationships and the questionable dealing he’s had with some of hip hop’s finest, but he’s all about his paper.[/dcs_p]

[dcs_p]So then, after the beat has dropped, and the hook has stopped, I guess P Diddy was right after all. It’s all about the Benjamin’s baby.… Keep stacking that cheddar fellas.[/dcs_p]
